Origin story

Tacos Chilango was born from a deep-rooted love for the vibrant street food culture of Mexico City and a desire to share its authentic flavors with the world. Our journey began with our family, the Garibays, who grew up surrounded by the bustling taquerias and rich culinary traditions of our beloved hometown.

In Mexico City, street food is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that brings people together, creating connections and unforgettable memories. We wanted to bring that same magic to our new community. With this dream in mind, we moved to Phoenix, Arizona, carrying with us cherished recipes passed down through generations.

In 2020, we opened the doors of Tacos Chilango, a humble taqueria dedicated to serving the true essence of Mexico City street food. From the very beginning, we committed ourselves to using only the finest ingredients, grilling our meats over mesquite wood, and crafting our tortillas with the same care and tradition that our ancestors did.
